Our Story
MARC Group was founded in 1981 in by the late M.A. Rouf Chowdhury after returning from Abu Dhabi where he along with the late Jahirul Islam founded the largest ever Bangladeshi enterprise in the Middle East, Bengal Development Corporation (BDC). As a founder Director and CEO of BDC, Mr Chowdhury managed a civil engineering and Construction firm that executed projects valued at over $250 million and employed over 5,000 Bangladeshi workers from 1975 to 1980. BDC's example paved the way for the hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshi workers now based in the Middle East, the largest single source of foreign remittance for the Government of Bangladesh.
Over the past three decades Mr Chowdhury worked tirelessly to expand the industrial and commercial base of MARC Group, which encompasses several companies marshalling best practice and market leadership in a variety of industries.

RAHIMA FOOD CORPORATION (PUBLIC) LIMITED: A fully computerized publicly listed edible oil refinery with a production capacity of approximately 36,000 tonnes per annum
MOSHAHID TEXTILE CORPORATION LIMITED : A fully integrated composite textile plant including knitting, dyeing, printing, and garment manufacturing unit for export using German Technology.
R&R SPINNING LIMITED: A spinning mill for cotton yarn using German Technology.
CONSTRUCTION & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION: A civil engineering and construction firm.
MARC DEVELOPMENTS LIMITED: A real estate development firm.
MARC AGRO PROCESSING CORPORATION LIMITED: An edible oil fortification company affiliated with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) a subsidiary of the Gates Foundation.
ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION LIMITED (EDCL): A microfinance institution pioneering a sustainable solution for the financial needs of the 'missing middle' the group of entrepreneurs that graduate out of conventional micro finance (provided by the likes of Grameen Bank and BRAC) and are yet ineligible for traditional collateralised lending.
